Email reports and alerts
Weekly and monthly summaries by email, and notifications when traffic spikes or drops.
PlainAnalytics can email you a summary of your site's traffic and warn you when something unusual happens. Set it up in Site settings → Email reports. Each report has its own list of recipients (up to 50), and recipients don't need a PlainAnalytics account.
Weekly and monthly reports
| Report | When it's sent | Period covered |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly | Mondays, from 09:00 in the site's timezone | The previous seven days |
| Monthly | The 1st of each month, from 09:00 in the site's timezone | The previous calendar month |
Each report shows unique visitors, pageviews, bounce rate and visit duration with the change from the period before, plus your top sources and top pages, and a link to the dashboard. Every email links to the site's email report settings, where reports can be changed or switched off.
Traffic spike notifications
Get an email when the number of current visitors (visitors in the last five minutes) reaches a threshold you choose — useful when a post takes off. You'll get at most one spike email every 12 hours, and it includes the top sources and pages driving the traffic.
Traffic drop notifications
Get an email when the number of visitors in the last 12 hours falls below a threshold. A sudden drop often means the tracking script was removed or broken by a deploy. You'll get at most one drop email every 24 hours.
Tips
- Pick a spike threshold a few times higher than your usual current-visitors count, so you only hear about real surges.
- For drop alerts, look at a quiet 12-hour period in your dashboard and set the threshold well below it.
